Ayrison's publishing and illustrating team is holding a writing competition for children!

Aqua Stars Publishing Inc. is an independent publishing firm devoted to discovering new talents and sharing them with the world. Our main focus is to encourage authorship in children and youth. The Junior Author Contest is one way in which we kindle the dormant writer in children. The Junior Author Contest is a literary competition for children under the age of 12. Each student will be allowed to submit ONE short story. Winning stories will be compiled to be published in a children’s book. The winners will not be compensated but will be given full credit for their story with their name and picture in the book. The winners will also receive a copy of the book. Karolyn Gubbine, the illustrator of "Have You Seen My Animal Friends?" By Ayrison Ahilraj will be illustrating the Children's Short Story Book. The deadline for submissions is April 1st, 2020. [EXTENDED to April 15th due to Covid-19 which caused a bit of a delay in publishing) For teachers, The Junior Author Contest is a great way to incorporate creative writing in your lesson plans.

Who is eligible to participate in the contest?

Children under the age of 12.

When is the deadline for submissions?

April, 2020 is the deadline for submissions. Stories sent in after this date will not be accepted.

Where do I submit my short story? What language should the short story be written in?

What language should the short story be written in?

The short story must be written in English. The book will be published in english only.

May I submit more than one piece?

No! Only one submission will be permitted per student.

What does my story have to be about?

Your story may be about absolutely anything you choose. There is no theme for this contest so you may choose to write about anything.

What do I have to include in my submission?

At the top of your short story make sure to include your full name, school or parent's name, mailing address and a method of communication; email or phone number.

How many winners will be selected?

There will be 10 winners selected.

How will the winners be selected?

Winners will be selected by a panel of three editors.

Each piece will be judged on creativity, passion, grammar and originality.

When will the winners be announced?

The winning stories will be announced end of April.
